Wondering when kids move up to the next Kids’ Church class?
We’re looking ahead to a great school year, and we are so excited to see the ways that each child will grow in every area of life. It’s a joy to partner with you in making a way for kids to come to Christ.
Here are a few answers to questions you might have about when and how kids will move up to the next Kids’ Church class:
- When does my child move into the Kids’ Church class that corresponds to their 2025-26 grade? Sunday, August 31 is when all students move to their new classes. The only exception is kids under the age of 4–they will enter the PreK class when they turn 4, whenever that is during the year.
- What do I need to do to update my child’s grade in the check-ins system?Absolutely nothing–we’ve got you! We’ll take care of moving everyone’s grade up to the next grade prior to Sunday, August 31.
- What if my child was held back a year or is repeating a grade? Please let us know! All students’ grades will be advanced automatically, so if there are any exceptions we will also take care of those to make sure your child remains in the right class.
- Is there anything different about check-ins on Sunday, August 31? No, nothing changes! Everything stays the same about check-ins and dismissal. There’s nothing you need to do differently!
- My child will be going into 6th grade and will be graduating from Kids’ Church this fall–how can I help them with the transition into the worship service? This is an exciting step! Here are some tips to help your 6th grader transition smoothly:
- Make sure they have a Bible and notebook to help them follow along and engage with the sermon, as well as learn how to respond to God’s Word throughout the week.
- Encourage them to focus on the service and help them learn how to be active listeners.
- Engage in conversation about the sermon after the service to help them “be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” Discuss ways to apply the sermon to their life in age-appropriate ways, an important part of family discipleship. This could include loving interactions with siblings, obedience to parents, self-control, choosing good friends, attitudes, resisting temptation, and more.
- What should I do if my child’s grade is incorrect on the check-in station or their printed label when I check them in on Sunday, August 31? Just let a check-in attendant know at the main check-in station and they will be happy to help you!
