Biblical Parenting Seminar: Helping Families Build a Strong Biblical Foundation

One-Day Equipping Seminar

Discipling children can be challenging. The responsibility to display Christ to watchful eyes and consistently guide in Biblical truth may sometimes be overwhelming, and finding tools and help needed for the shifting challenges of each new stage of development may often be confusing.

Whether you have experienced some of these difficulties yourself, or if you just simply want to be encouraged and supported in your discipleship role, we ask that you consider attending this one-day equipping seminar. At this event, you will have the opportunity to hear from multiple pastors, ministry leaders, and professionals who are especially gifted to speak into a variety of discipling challenges.

If you are a parent, grandparent, caregiver trying to raise discerning kids, or if you have children in your life you are ministering to in any way, this seminar will help equip Christians of all ages and seasons of life to teach our children biblically and diligently (Deut. 6:6-7).

We know you’ll walk away from this equipping event from Fellowship Church’s Truth & Worldview Initiative strengthened and encouraged in your discipleship role!

Scholarships Available: We don’t want cost to prohibit anyone from joining us for a great time of spiritual growth and connection! If you would benefit from a full or partial scholarship, please contact the office.

Breakout Sessions:

The Rod & Reproof: Making Disciples Through Discipline: In this breakout session, we will seek to understand God’s perspective on disciplining children. By getting to the heart of discipline as revealed in Scripture, we will discuss why discipline is necessary, establish its goals, and look at the process for effective biblical discipline in the home—equipping parents to confidently carry it out in a God-glorifying way. This session will be led by Pastor Tim Sheare.

Teen Trends That Aren’t Going Away: Teens today are navigating a rapidly shifting culture shaped by technology, social media, and constant connectivity. In this session, we’ll explore cultural trends, how they influence identity and relationships, address timeless struggles, and equip parents with practical tools to help their students stay rooted and built up in Christ, grounded in truth in the midst of cultural pressure. This session will be led by Pastor Nick Forrester.

Let’s get Curious about Behavior: In this breakout session, we will review the typically developing child, exploring how their brains work and how to regulate, calm, and de-escalate behaviors. We’ll provide guidance and language for understanding these behaviors, discuss what grace-based discipline looks like and how it differs from punishment, and help parents grow in Christ-centered responses through interactive learning, laughter, and role play. This session will be led by Josh and Kristie Clare.

Parenting Through the Teen Years into Adulthood: In this breakout session, Pastor Karl Dyrli will walk through the long-term goal of parenting: preparing our kids to live as adults who know and follow Jesus well. As teens grow and become adults, parenting shifts from direct authority to influential authority, requiring a purposeful release of control and an embrace of spiritual influence. This roundtable will explore the biblical principles that guide parenting older and adult children, offering encouragement and direction for the unique challenges, heartaches, and rewards these years can bring.

Healthy Boundaries for Parents: Biblical Wisdom for Parenting: In this breakout session, we will learn to set appropriate boundaries in parenting using biblical principles. We’ll address overcommitment, overprotection, and people-pleasing, while offering practical tools for saying no gracefully, avoiding burnout, maintaining healthy parent-child relationships, and teaching children to respect boundaries while serving your family well. This Safe Families session will be led by Pastor Scott Wills.

Supporting Families in Crisis: A Practical Guide: In this breakout session, we will equip you to better support families facing job loss, illness, divorce, or other challenges. We’ll discuss when to listen, when to act, and when to refer to professional services, while offering practical ways to provide meaningful, non-intrusive help to those in need. This session will be led by Safe Families.

Unequally Yoked: Parenting when Faith isn’t Shared: In this breakout session, we will offer biblical encouragement and practical guidance for parents navigating difficult circumstances such as being unequally yoked in marriage or in a divided home. We’ll share personal testimonies and encouragement, helping parents see that God meets families in their broken places and equips them to reflect His love, strength, and faithfulness no matter the storm. This session will be led by Judy Harvey and Sam Payne.
