Here at Fellowship Church we value worshipping God through giving.
Everything we do as a church is supported through the giving of the congregation. The Bible teaches that we are not owners but stewards of what God has entrusted to us. All that we have ultimately belongs to Him.
We are providing the following guidelines to help equip the church in the practice of giving, and we encourage you to give according to these biblical principles:
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES
- Give as an act of worship to God (Proverbs 3:9, 2 Corinthians 8:3-5)
- Give freely and cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7)
- Give generously and sacrificially (2 Corinthians 8:1-7, 2 Corinthians 9:6, Luke 12:15, Luke 12:33-34)
- Give a predetermined and set aside amount (2 Corinthians 9:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2)
- Give according to the means God has given you (1 Corinthians 16:2, Deuteronomy 16:17)
- Give privately and not for the show (Matthew 6:1-4)
What About Tithing?
In the Old Testament, Israel was required to give back to the Lord a tithe (10%) of the produce of their land and flocks (Leviticus 27:30). The New Testament reaffirms giving generously and sacrificially built on the principle of worshipping God through giving. As a helpful guideline, we encourage people to give 10% of their income to their local church as a starting point, with additional sacrificial giving beyond that as the Lord leads.
Giving As A Family
Every family situation is different, but it is important to talk together about giving and these biblical guidelines. This can be a helpful way to increase the purposefulness and joy of your giving to support the work of the ministry for the glory of God (Colossians 3:17).
