Welcoming New Staff
At our congregational meeting in December, we shared some exciting developments within our church staff. As Fellowship Church continues to grow, we remain committed to equipping and multiplication as integral parts of our vision. For 2025, we are thrilled to introduce two new part-time roles: Worship Ministry Director and Student Ministries Director.
We are excited to welcome John Shimp as Worship Ministry Director. Over the past several years, John has faithfully served at Fellowship in various capacities, including as an instrumentalist, vocalist, and ensemble leader. He also gained valuable experience as a Worship Ministry intern in the summer of 2021, and then served as interim Worship Leader during Pastor Karl’s sabbatical in the summer of 2023. This new role is a natural next step for John, and will be critically helpful to Pastor Karl as he continues to serve as Pastor of Worship & Ministry Operations. We know John’s use of his gifts to lead and serve will be a blessing to our worship ministry and our congregation, with an impact that will extend beyond that in the future through multiplication both inside and outside Fellowship Church.
Under Pastor Karl’s leadership and oversight, John’s role will include leading various aspects of the worship ministry and developing our music and tech teams, leading the worship team on Sundays periodically, providing training for those within the worship ministry, leading and investing in the next generation through the Youth Band, assisting Pastor Karl with long-term planning, and helping others grow in the mission and vision of our worship ministry.
We are also excited to welcome Abbie James as our new Student Ministries Director. After serving as an intern in 2024, Abbie has shown incredible passion and skill in investing in the next generation. In this expanded role, she will continue to use her gifts and energy to disciple students and encourage them in their walk with Christ, support Pastor Nick in the daily responsibilities of student ministry, and serve our volunteer leader team.
Under Pastor Nick’s leadership and oversight, Abbie will lead aspects of TNT, assist with planning and organization for Student Life Camp, facilitate discipleship groups, serve with the college ministry, and more. She will meet with students to help them worship God in every area of their lives, grow in their faith and obedience, and serve according to their gifts within the church.
As you see Abbie and John using their gifts and serving and for the glory of God, encourage them as they take new steps of faith and obedience in serving the Lord, and let’s continue to worship and serve the Lord together with passionate hearts for His glory!
