What is CarePortal and How Can You Get Involved?
CarePortal is a technology platform that connects vulnerable children and families to people who have something to give. Social workers uncover the needs. We have partnered with CarePortal to serve those families throughout Luzerne County.
In every community, there are children and families at a point of crisis, who need help. In those same communities, there are churches and people who care and want to take action. But what they need is a connection point.
How Does It Work?
CarePortal is the connection point between those families in the foster care system and the local church. CarePortal makes local churches aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond. As needs are uncovered, social workers can submit requests through the CarePortal to have those needs met. Once submitted, those needs are communicated to a point person in the local church, who then shares the needs with their church body.
Requests may be as simple as need for new clothes, a dresser, or maybe even a bunk bed. But responding to meet that need has an incredible impact in the lives of those children. Every single time a caseworker submits a request on behalf of a child in their community, they will list the purpose. Your responses could help achieve goals like: prevent a child from entering foster care, make an adoptive placement or support a youth aging out of foster care.

How Can You Get Involved?
Getting involved is simple. You just need to be someone who is willing to receive emails. When you receive an email, it will list the family’s situation, along with the request to help meet the need. If you are able to help meet that need, you just have to click the link to respond to the request. Take a look at the latest requests below.
