As we strive to continually improve security on our campus, especially for those who are vulnerable, we will be adding an additional measure of safety for our children beginning Sunday, March 10. We take the care and protection of the children God entrusts to us very seriously and want to make every effort to ensure their protection in the event of a security emergency.
Therefore, effective March 10, the doors to the Kids’ Church areas will be closed and locked at the beginning of Kids’ Church for the duration of the service for the safety and security of our kids. A Kids’ Church Liaison will be available to provide access to individuals needing to enter:
- Families with a check in sticker who need to utilize the Family Transition Room to assist their child in transitioning into the nursery or classroom.
- Nursing moms
- Parents who have been paged to come for their child
- Late arrivals
- Those with a personal emergency which requires early dismissal
No other access to this secured area is permitted during our worship service, and it may not be used as an access hallway to the gym. All doors are equipped with panic hardware for fast and easy exit in the event of an evacuation, regardless of lock status. The doors to the Kids’ Church area will remain closed and locked until the conclusion of the worship service, to enable our parents to participate through the conclusion of the service, and to give our classes time to prepare for dismissal. We ask that parents not attempt to dismiss their child early, except for personal emergencies or special circumstances.
We trust that this measure, in addition to our Kids’ Church volunteer clearances, security cameras, security team training, and other measures, will ensure a safe environment for our kids, so we can make a way for them to know and worship Christ. We also hope that these measures help provide peace-of-mind to parents so they can participate fully in our gathered worship services, through the closing prayers and time of worship. If you have any questions about any of these matters, please do not hesitate to speak to our Kids’ Ministry Director or one of the pastors.
