Embracing Community from the Kitchen Window
Sharing a fresh cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. Sneaking an extra brownie for your spouse at church picnics. These opportunities for fellowship are due, in part, to the help of those who have faithfully served as kitchen coordinators. This year we welcome Heather Ferrise as the Deacon of Kitchen Coordination. Recently, Heather shared her heart for serving in this role:
FC: How did you initially become involved with serving in the kitchens?
HF: The Lord has had Kitchen support on my heart for several years being involved in the TNT Kitchen staff.
FC: Why did you feel called to serve in this role?
HF: This role has been as easy as breathing and I have gotten an energy and excitement about it that is hard to explain except that I believe it is spirit lead. Meditating over the Kitchen Deacon service has been just as easy and I am at an incredible peace, energy and excitement. Logically does not make sense “Kitchen Duties” but I believe it is spirit lead. Why God calls the way he does leaves me in awe, for we do not know and cannot fully understand.
FC: What do you hope to see God do through you and through our church while you are serving in this role?
HF: I hope to embrace Gods will in my life working toward becoming the servant and steward he is desiring me to be. I hope to see Fellowship Church embrace community and all that being in and around the kitchen can provide, it’s warmth, ability to nurture and it’s fellowship opportunities.
We look forward to seeing how God will use Heather in this role.
Please be praying for Heather and be sure to let her know if you’re willing to lend a hand!
