For many, the Fellowship Church nursery is where discipleship began and where lifelong friendships have been made. It has been a foundational ministry in our church for several years. Over those years, we have seen our church family grow and our nursery space relocated to help meet the needs associated with that growth.
One of the long-term goals for A Legacy of Worship was the physical expansion of our current nursery space on the first floor of the Education Building. This was a major goal for Phase III, along with many other additions and renovations in order to maximize our resources and space for ministry needs. This plan included expanding the nursery space into the space currently used by our library.
We are thankful for the many new babies that God is bringing into our church. As our nursery continues to grow, we again find ourselves in need of more space. Because of the current nursery attendance numbers and anticipated growth, it is imperative that we seek ways now to maximize our space for this essential ministry.
Therefore, the Trustees and Elders are in agreement to take steps now with this plan* to expand the nursery space and utilize the room currently used by the library for the purpose of nursery ministry.
The project will be managed by the Trustees, in conjunction with Church Staff, Deacons, and the ALOW Project Team. Together, they will oversee the construction and renovation aspects of this project. We expect to manage this project in a way that will minimize the expense. We also hope to complete it quickly, with minimum ministry interruption. We are targeting late fall for these transitions to begin taking place.
If you have children in the nursery, their participation in the nursery ministry should not be affected negatively. In fact, this expansion will actually provide us with an opportunity to minister to our youngest attenders more effectively. Our deacons and project team are currently designing a nursery layout that will best serve the needs of our children and their families.
Once the transition begins, the library will be closed so that the appropriate renovations can take place. During that time, our Deacons and Staff will be evaluating our library resources and determining how they will be made available, going forward. We will continue to make library resources available, but will be doing so in some new ways.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to pray and follow the Lord’s leading as we seek to establish A Legacy of Worship for the next generation, for his glory.
